The monthly Mary Louis Simkins Memorial Golf Club, Namulonge is set for next month, the executive committee management has announced.
According to Martin Nsubuga, the club vice chairman, the event will attract over 120 golfers competing in the A,B,C categories for men and A,B for the women.
"Golfers can enjoy playing at one of the most eco-friendly and green course in the country. They also have an opportunity to enjoy the serene green environment after a round of golf,"Nsubuga said.
He added that the tournament will ensure both golfers and their families enjoy a serene environment and can be a good moment for bonding.
“For instance, as the golfers battle it out on the course, other family members can choose to have a picnic in luscious green open space while the kids can bring their bicycles and ride in off-fairway terrain around the National Crops Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI)."
The Mary Louis Simkins Memorial Golf Club (Namulonge) officially got affiliated to the Uganda Golf Union in November last year and is on a massive drive to attract and retain new members.
The golf tournament has for long been viewed as a breeding ground for many golfers in Uganda having produced threw players to the current national team.
This year's monthly mug sponsored by Castle Lite will be played on March 2, 2019 and will attract over 120 golfers.
