UPC's Akena summons Peter Walubiri, two others over "indiscipline"

Uganda Peoples Congress has summoned members to face the disciplinary committee over failure to abide with the party rules and regulations.

The president of one of the factions, Jimmy Akena, said the summoned members disobeyed decisions taken by some of the party organs and participated in activities that contradict the norms of the party.

"The party has summoned Joseph Bbosa (president of Olara Otunnu's faction), Peter Mukidi Walubiri who was recently appointed by Bbosa as his deputy and Jacinto Ogwal who contested as an independent candidate in 2016.

Akena said the three have been holding out as party leaders and instituting civil suits in the name of the party without authority of the party.

They are expected to appear before the committee on March 15 at 10.00 am.

Akena said failure for them to appear before the committee could lead to dismissal from the party.

He said he was tired of masqueraders.

"Who voted Bbosa as president for UPC? we shall not allow masqueraders to continue [dominating the party]."
