Police arrest 38 suspects in Entebbe, Mukono crackdown

Kampala Metropolitan Police has arrested 38 suspects in separate intelligence-led operations in Entebbe and Mukono, targeting criminal hotspots linked to robbery, burglary and drug abuse.

Kampala Metropolitan Police has arrested 38 suspects during coordinated operations conducted in Entebbe and Mukono districts as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the region.

According to Deputy Public Relations Officer Luke Owoyesigyire, the operations targeted identified criminal hotspots associated with robbery, burglary and drug-related activities.

In Entebbe Division, police carried out a night operation on May 19 in Bendegere, Kasenyi and Nakiwogo areas, resulting in the arrest of 31 suspects.

Police said the suspects were found in possession of suspected narcotic substances and other exhibits, which were recovered during the operation.

The suspects are currently detained at Entebbe Police Station and are expected to be processed for prosecution.

In a separate operation conducted on May 18, police arrested seven suspects in Jojo, Sonde and Misindye areas in Goma Division, Mukono District.

Authorities described the locations as known criminal black spots frequently used for illegal activities.

The suspects in Mukono were detained at Goma Police Station under Mukono Central Police Station pending prosecution.

Owoyesigyire said the operations form part of sustained intelligence-led efforts to improve public safety and disrupt criminal activity within the Kampala Metropolitan area.

“Kampala Metropolitan Police remains committed to conducting disruptive operations to eliminate criminal elements and enhance the safety and security of the public,” he said.

Police did not release the identities of the suspects or disclose specific charges preferred against them at the time of the operations.
