Hundreds of mourners gathered on Friday at Kabagoma Village to pay their final respects to renowned Catholic liturgical music icon John Bosco Kazoora during an emotional burial ceremony that celebrated his enduring contribution to the Church through music.
Kazoora, whose hymns inspired generations of Catholics across Uganda, was remembered as a humble yet gifted servant of God who used his musical talent to strengthen faith and deepen spirituality among believers.
While presiding over the funeral Mass, Rev. Fr. Severinus Ndugwa described Kazoora as a devoted Christian whose ministry transformed countless lives through sacred music.
“John Bosco Kazoora dedicated his life to evangelization through music. His songs touched hearts, strengthened the faith of Christians, and brought many people closer to God,” Rev. Fr. Ndugwa said.
He added that Kazoora’s legacy within the Catholic Church would continue to inspire future generations.
“His contribution to the Church will never be forgotten because his music will continue to live on in our communities and places of worship,” he noted.
Rev. Fr. Ndugwa also encouraged young people to emulate Kazoora’s determination and commitment, noting that the late musician rose from a humble educational background to become one of the most respected figures in Catholic liturgical music.
“Despite the challenges he faced in life, Kazoora remained focused on his passion and used his talent to serve God and society. Young people should learn from his hard work and dedication,” he said.
Family members, friends, clergy, and the faithful described Kazoora as a peaceful and generous man whose music ministry united Christians and inspired hope among worshippers.
Kazoora passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, just days after celebrating the sacrament of holy matrimony on April 25, 2026—a development that shocked many believers and admirers across the country.
As hymns composed by the late musician echoed through the burial grounds, mourners reflected on a life devoted to faith, worship, and service through music, leaving behind a legacy that many say will endure for generations.
