Police in Kisoro District are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 25-year-old man in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Uwayezu Urban, a resident of Nyakabande Village in Gisorora Parish, Nyakabande Sub-county.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at around 6:40 a.m. on April 7, 2026, at Kanyabukungu Village along the Kisoro–Kabale highway. It is alleged that an unidentified motor vehicle knocked down the pedestrian, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.
Police visited and documented the scene, and a sketch plan was drawn to support ongoing investigations. The body of the deceased was later transported to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, has appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could help identify the vehicle involved and its driver.
“We call upon the public to work hand in hand with police to avail the necessary information,” Maate said.
