Muslims Urged to Uphold Faith, Family Values, Unity

Muslims across the country have been called upon to live God-conscious lives, strengthen family values, and remain united in advancing community development.

The message was delivered by Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, who represented the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, during the burial of the late Hajjat Amiina Bulage.

Hajjat Bulage, who passed away in her late 80s, was the mother of Sheikh Faisal Hassan Naminya, a prominent religious leader in the Busoga region.

Addressing a large gathering of mourners, Sheikh Bukenya emphasized the importance of spiritual preparedness for life after death, urging believers to remain steadfast in their faith.

“You have indeed demonstrated the compassion expected from a pious child toward their parents during their lifetime, as an appreciation for the sacrifices they endured to raise you as responsible citizens,” he said, while commending the bereaved family for caring for their elderly mother.

He also called on parents to prioritize the upbringing and education of their children, especially in Islamic teachings.

“So intensify all efforts in teaching your children, especially Islamic tenets, to enable them to grow morally upright,” Sheikh Bukenya advised.

The Deputy Mufti further urged Muslims to remain united and actively support development programs under the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC).

Earlier, several clerics shared messages drawn from the Holy Qur’an, including Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Bbowa, who delivered reflections on faith and perseverance.

The burial attracted a number of high-profile Muslim leaders, among them Sheikh Ziyad Swaleh Lubanga and Sheikh Shaffie Edris Songolo, alongside Kadhis from neighboring districts and other leaders within UMSC structures.

The late Hajjat Bulage was remembered as a devoted mother and a pillar in her family, whose legacy continues through the lives of her children and the community she impacted.
