A seasoned media professional with over 13 years of experience in stakeholder engagement and broadcast journalism, Vivian Kamusiime has built a distinguished career as a reporter and television presenter, contributing to national conversations through impactful storytelling and audience-driven content.
She currently works with Uganda Radio Network, where she leads content initiatives and strengthens audience engagement.
Kamusiime brings a multidisciplinary background to her leadership, combining expertise in journalism, partnerships, advocacy, and financial negotiations. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Communications Management from the Uganda Management Institute, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University.
She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Fellow of the World Association of News Publishers Women in News (WIN), having participated in the 2024 Leadership Accelerator Programme.
Following her election as Chapter Lead for the Uganda Alumni Network under WAN-IFRA WIN, Kamusiime expressed deep gratitude for the trust placed in her by fellow members.
“I am humbled and honoured by the confidence you have shown in me. This mandate is not just an individual achievement, but a reflection of our shared commitment to advancing women in media,” she said.
She emphasized that leadership is a responsibility to carry forward the hopes and aspirations of many, noting that the support she received represents “a powerful expression of trust, solidarity, and shared purpose.”
Kamusiime’s leadership agenda is anchored on the theme Advocacy, Sustainability, and Visibility, which she says will guide efforts to strengthen the network and drive meaningful impact in Uganda’s media sector.
“As a network, we must position ourselves as a credible and influential voice on issues affecting women journalists. This includes engaging policymakers, media owners, and stakeholders to promote safer, more inclusive, and equitable workplaces,” she explained.
She pledged to prioritize sustainability by building resilient structures within the alumni network through resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, and member-driven initiatives that extend beyond individual leadership terms.
Kamusiime also highlighted the need to amplify the visibility of women in media by creating platforms for thought leadership and showcasing success stories.
“We want to ensure that every voice is valued and every story matters. Through strategic storytelling and partnerships, we can elevate the work of women journalists and inspire the next generation,” she added.
She further committed to advocating for stronger policies against gender-based violence and harassment in media spaces, while promoting gender equality and inclusion in newsrooms across the country.
Drawing inspiration from women who have led before her, Kamusiime expressed confidence that collective action will transform the industry.
“To the women who came before us and those who continue to lead, this moment is a reminder that when we believe in one another, we do more than lead—we transform,” she said.
Her vision ultimately seeks to position the Uganda chapter as a leading example of excellence and innovation within the global network, ensuring that Ugandan voices are well represented in continental and international media advocacy efforts.
