Kitagwenda District has recorded an increase in its budget for the 2025/2026 financial year, attributed to enhanced performance in local government service delivery.
The district’s allocation rose from Shs 28.25 billion in the previous financial year to approximately Shs 29.31 billion, marking an increment of over Shs 1 billion.
The announcement was made by the Moses R.K. Dalili, the District Chief Administrative Officer, during a council meeting at the district headquarters.
Dalili linked the budget increase to improved results in the Local Government Service Delivery Performance Assessment, conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister.
“Our improved performance as a district has contributed to this increase. We moved from 66% in the previous assessment to 72.9% according to the preliminary results, which is a significant step forward,” he said.
He commended both political leaders and technical staff for their collaboration in enhancing service delivery across the district.
“I want to applaud the councilors and the technical team for working together to achieve this progress. This kind of teamwork is what drives development,” Dalili added, urging stakeholders to maintain momentum and continue prioritizing effective service delivery for even better results in future assessments.
