The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has congratulated Morris Muhindo on his promotion to the position of Under Secretary at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, describing the appointment as both an honor and a significant responsibility in public service.

Speaking during a celebratory gathering on Friday evening attended by colleagues, comrades, and friends, Tayebwa said he was pleased to join the event alongside his wife to recognize Muhindo’s new role in government.

However, Tayebwa emphasized that the occasion should not only be viewed as a celebration but also as the beginning of a new chapter of responsibility and service to the nation.

“I do not look at this as merely a celebration, but rather as the launch of a new challenge and responsibility. Public service, especially in such a sensitive institution, demands integrity, discipline, and a deep sense of duty,” he said.

Tayebwa commended Muhindo for the qualities that have earned him trust within government and political circles, encouraging him to remain the sober, reliable, and trustworthy leader he has been known to be throughout his career.

Tayebwa underscored the critical nature of Muhindo’s new role, noting that the handling of government and classified documents requires the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and accountability.

“Handling government and classified documents requires the highest level of trust. Protect government secrets diligently while ensuring transparency and professionalism in your office. Trust remains the most important currency in public service,” he said.

Tayebwa also urged Muhindo to prioritize continuous learning and personal development to strengthen his capacity for leadership.

“Leadership is a continuous journey of learning. Personal development, reading, and undertaking training every year are essential to building the capacity required to serve effectively,” he said.

As part of his guidance, Tayebwa recommended that Muhindo read the book The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav, noting that it offers insights into the concept of authentic power rooted in integrity, responsibility, and accountability.

According to Tayebwa, these values are essential for leaders entrusted with sensitive national responsibilities.

“Morris is a brilliant young man and a loyal cadre of the National Resistance Movement who has served faithfully. I am confident that under the leadership of President Museveni and the senior team at the Ministry, he will perform his duties diligently,” he said.

“Congratulations once again, Morris. I wish you the very best as you serve your motherland with integrity and dedication.”
