Busoga Region Wins Omumanyi wa Salaam 2026 National Competition
Busoga region has emerged winner of the 2026 Omumanyi wa Salaam competition, as Minister for Kampala Minsa Kabanda lauded Salaam TV for promoting Islamic knowledge and faith through a nationwide contest that rewarded finalists with major prizes including Hajj trips and a motorcycle.

Busoga region has won the 2026 Omumanyi wa Salaam national competition, a nationwide Islamic knowledge contest organized by Salaam TV.

Ali Matisan from Busoga emerged winner in the grand finale after competing against five other finalists drawn from different regions of the country.

The competition focused on questions about Uganda and the Islamic religion, testing participants’ knowledge at the national level.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Minister for Kampala Minsa Kabanda commended Salaam TV for organizing the initiative, describing it as an important platform for promoting knowledge and strengthening faith.

She called upon Ugandans across the country to support Islamic schools and religious education as a way of deepening the Islamic faith within communities.

While addressing participants and guests, Kabanda emphasized the importance of investing in religious teaching, noting that it plays a critical role in nurturing strong values and moral grounding among the youth and the wider population.

The head of Salaam TV, Hajji Karim Kaliisa, said the media organization would not only focus on organizing the Omumanyi wa Salaam competition but would also continue reaching out to communities across the country.

He explained that Salaam TV’s mission goes beyond competitions, highlighting ongoing efforts to engage people at the grassroots through community initiatives and programs.

Kaliisa added that the station remains committed to using its platform to educate, inspire and connect with audiences across different regions.

Sponsors of the Omumanyi wa Salaam competition pledged continued support for the initiative, noting that it plays an important role in promoting and strengthening the Islamic faith.

Winners from six regions across the country were rewarded with prizes including a motorcycle, a pilgrimage trip to Mecca for Hajj, a land title and other gifts in recognition of their performance in the competition.
