Katikkiro Mayiga Urges Married Couples to Embrace Responsibility

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has urged married couples to fulfill their responsibilities without making excuses, noting that doing so helps prevent misunderstandings and promotes happiness in marriage.

Katikkiro Mayiga made the remarks at Kibuli Mosque, where he attended the Nikkah (Islamic marriage ceremony) of Manisurah Nakazinga Nambi Kaawaase and Khalil Wavamunno Mugenyi, who officially began their marital journey on the day.

Addressing the newlyweds, the Katikkiro congratulated them and wished them a successful and happy marriage. He encouraged each partner to work hard to ensure the other’s happiness while upholding mutual respect.

Mayiga also praised the parents for raising their children responsibly, commending Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, the First Deputy Katikkiro and father of the bride, as well as the groom’s parents, Elvis Wavamunno and the mothers, for nurturing their children until they were ready for marriage.

“Marriage thrives where each partner is committed to their responsibilities and respects the other,” Katikkiro Mayiga said.

Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo advised the couple to embrace constant communication, describing it as a cornerstone of a strong and lasting marriage.

“If you listen to each other at all times, your marriage will endure,” he said.
