The Omumanyi Wa Salam TV Bunyoro Toro regional finals came to a close at Bwikya Hill, Hoima City, on October 4, 2025, with Ausi Mugisa emerging as the winner. The competition, which saw over 50 participants registered, tested contestants' knowledge in various areas, including religious studies, history, current affairs, agriculture, and day-to-day life.
After a series of interviews and competitions, the field was narrowed down to four finalists. Ausi Mugisa, a 63-year-old retired teacher from the region, triumphed over his competitors to win a brand-new motorcycle courtesy of Salam TV and Chapa General Enterprise.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including legislators, security personnel, public servants, politicians, religious leaders, and elders. The RCC Hoima City, Badru Mugabi, who was the chief guest, commended Salam TV for their community development efforts through mobilization and encouraged them to bring more developmental projects to Hoima City.
Hon. Nyakato Asinansi, Hoima City Woman MP, attended and supported the Omumanyi Wa Salam TV Bunyoro Toro regional finals with a contribution of UGX 500,000. Hajji Karim Kaliisa, MD of Salam Charity and Salam TV, appreciated the companies that supported the event and announced that the next region to participate will be the Eastern region.
Ausi Mugisa will represent the Bunyoro Toro region in the national competition scheduled for February 2026 in Kampala, where he stands a chance to win grand prizes, including a brand-new motorcycle, land title, and a fully funded Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah.
The Omumanyi Wa Salam TV competition is a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting Islamic knowledge, history, and current affairs, while also encouraging community development and social cohesion. The competition has garnered support from various organizations, including Chapa General Enterprises, Muzaata Tours and Travel, Infotrust Property Consultants, World Navi, Sumz Foods, Golden Castle Hotel Hoima, Tweenbrook Primary School, Uthman Mixed Primary School, Masindi, ST.
