Ausi Mugisa Wins Bunyoro Regional ‘Omumanyi wa Salam’ Quiz Competition

Ausi Mugisa has emerged as the winner of the Bunyoro regional ‘Omumanyi wa Salam’ competition, held over the weekend at Bwikya Mosque in Hoima City.

The event, which attracted hundreds of participants and spectators from across the region, tested contestants on faith-based knowledge, history, and current affairs.

The regional competition, part of the wider Omumanyi wa Salam national campaign organized by Salam Charity, featured four finalists: Abdul Nuru Mutesasira, Ausi Mugisa, Abdurakim Kasim, and Nasif Kayemba. Mugisa triumphed in the final round to claim the top prize — a brand-new motorcycle — and a place in the national finals slated for February 2026 in Kampala.

Speaking at the event, Hajji Karim Kaliisa, Managing Director of Salam Charity, emphasized that the Omumanyi wa Salam program is not only about Islamic knowledge, but also aims to educate the public on environmental conservation and smart agriculture — aligning with government priorities such as the Parish Development Model (PDM).

“We are promoting knowledge, modern farming, and sustainability through this program. Regional winners like Mugisa are rewarded, but the goal is impact and education,” Kaliisa said.

“The national finals will be held in Kampala, where the winner will take home a double-cabin vehicle, among other prizes.”
