Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has unveiled plans to use the Kampala City Festival as a platform for promoting clean city campaigns and community health initiatives.
The announcement was made at the Chint Centre in Kampala, where Chint Uganda was unveiled as the official Gold Sponsor of the festival.
As part of the partnership, Chint will provide a large outdoor screen to beam festival messages nightly between 7pm and 10pm in the run-up to the event.
KCCA Deputy Executive Director Benon Kigenyi said the collaboration with the private sector signals a new phase of engagement between the city and its partners.
“We shall be doing a no-litter day in the whole of Kampala, cleanups across the divisions, and even a car-free day,” Kigenyi said.
“This is not just about celebration—it is about transforming our city together.”
The program will also include medical camps in all five divisions and outreach to disadvantaged groups, including children in babies’ homes, as part of KCCA’s corporate social responsibility agenda.
The long-awaited street festival will return after a seven-year break, with floats, marching bands, and processions along Kampala Road expected to draw thousands of residents and visitors.
Pre-parade displays will be staged along Uganda Road the night before, with the main procession starting at the intersection of Chamber Road and Buganda Road.
Chint Uganda’s Head of Marketing, Hurry Mugisha, said the partnership builds on the company’s existing relationship with KCCA, including co-sponsorship of Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC).
“This festival is about celebrating Kampala’s culture, innovation, and sustainability. As a proud partner, we are here to light the way into the festival and contribute to its transformation story,” Mugisha said.
KCCA has urged city dwellers to embrace the festival’s theme of culture, innovation, and sustainability, positioning the event as both a celebration and a platform for collective responsibility.
