The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) headquarters in Kibuli, Kampala, is undergoing a major transformation, with extensive renovations of old structures, new buildings, and a perimeter wall to strengthen security and operational efficiency.

A central feature of the facelift is a modern data analysis centre, which will allow investigators to collect, store, and analyse case-related information from across the country.

“We commend all those involved in this construction and are optimistic that within one year, this centre will be fully operational and will transform the way we handle cases,” Byakagaba said.

The CID has also established an Election Monitoring Centre, designed to track all election-related activities and coordinate operations with other security agencies.

“This is a very big achievement for the organisation. We are proud of our team and the progress on the ground, which is moving at a very good speed,” the IGP added.

The upgrades at CID headquarters are part of broader efforts to modernise Uganda’s policing infrastructure.

With enhanced working spaces, security, and new facilities, the Police Force expects improved operational effectiveness and boosted morale among officers.

Byakagaba emphasized that the renovations reflect the Force’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and preparedness ahead of the 2026 general elections.
