A total of 375 students from Masaka School of Comprehensive Nursing successfully completed an intensive 7-day patriotism training program, culminating in a graduation ceremony officiated by the Minister of State for MicroFinance, Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, on Saturday.
Addressing the graduates, Kasolo emphasized the critical role of patriotism in nation-building.
“This isn’t just a course. It is the foundation for a new generation built on discipline, integrity, and love for Uganda. True patriotism goes hand in hand with uplifting communities and contributing to national development,” he said.
The program, aimed at instilling a strong sense of civic responsibility, ethical leadership, and national pride, is part of the government’s broader efforts to nurture value-driven citizens.
Kasolo also highlighted the importance of supporting youth initiatives, stating, “I remain committed to strengthening Patriotism Clubs and promoting youth economic empowerment. Our young people are the backbone of Uganda’s future, and patriotism must translate into actions that uplift lives.”
The Minister further suggested that patriotism training should become a government requirement for all students.
“We must institutionalize this training. Every citizen should have a solid grounding in the values that define our nation,” he urged.
The graduates, primarily medical students, expressed enthusiasm about applying the lessons learned in their personal and professional lives.
The ceremony also underscored the synergy between civic education and the development of competent, responsible healthcare professionals.
