National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, says former party leader Moses Nkonge Kibalama is steadily recovering from illness.
Kyagulanyi revealed in a social media post that he hosted Kibalama at his home in Magere, Wakiso District this week.
“Very pleased to have hosted mzee Moses Nkonge Kibalama at Magere this week. Glad to see that he’s steadily recovering from the illness that has bothered him for some time,” Kyagulanyi wrote.
The opposition leader added that NUP would continue to support Kibalama’s recovery, while also alleging that the government has attempted to use him against the party and its broader political agenda.
Kibalama, who once headed the National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP) before it was rebranded into NUP in 2020, has been a central figure in disputes over the party’s leadership. In past years, his shifting positions have sparked debate within Uganda’s political scene.
Government officials have not yet commented on Kyagulanyi’s latest remarks.
Analysts note that Kibalama’s history with NUP continues to draw attention, as both the government and opposition remain engaged in a highly polarized political environment.
