The people of Katakwi were struggling to access necessities, with many sharing water sources with animals and conducting prayers under trees or temporary grass-thatched mosques. Salam Charity, in partnership with prominent media companies such as Salam TV, NBS, Sanyuka TV, and Nilepost, launched a campaign to bring attention and support to the area.

The newly constructed mosques and boreholes are part of Salam Charity's broader initiative to support vulnerable communities. The organization has built three fully equipped mosques and clean water sources, which were handed over to the community. Imam Iddi Kasozi encouraged the people of Katakwi to fear Allah, love one another, and develop a habit of giving in charity, no matter how small. He also urged them to take care of the mosques and boreholes handed over to them.
