President Museveni to attend national dialogue meet

President Yoweri Museveni has confirmed his attendance at the long awaited National Dialogue set for November.

This has been revealed by the leadership of Inter-religious Council of Uganda IRCU that is spearheading the preparations for the dialogue.

Following a series of negotiations between the Inter Religious Council of Uganda, IRCU and the leadership of political parties, the NRM chairman and president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has finally confirmed he will attend the dialogue slated for 21st November this year

President Museveni's attendance was confirmed by the chairperson of IRC Sheikh Ramadhan Mubaje.

His Eminence Sheikh Mubaje made the revelation during a media briefing held at their office headquarters in Mengo on 26th September, 2018.

Mubaje said that since 2006 IRCU and political leaders have been engaging the president to have a dialogue.

‘’As you recall, since 2006, the inter –Religious council of uganda joined later by the elders forum of in 2o11 have advocated a national dialogue process to create an opportunity for Uganda to contribute to shaping the future development and government of our country,’’ said Mubaje.

The chairman of the Elders Forum of Uganda, James Ogola asked Uganda to think about what has gone wrong in the last fifty years and find solutions that will enable the country not have a repeat of similar mistakes

‘’We as the people must get together and get concerned to think about the next fifty years and avoid what has been happening in the last fifty years to have peace in the country.’’ ‘’Justice James Ogoola said.’’

The dialogue is aimed at working out an agreed consensus to consolidate peace and democracy to achieve equal opportunity for all.
