“When Harriet told me she wanted to contest, I asked her why and she said, ‘My people are stuck in poverty. I want to be in position to lobby for them.’ That dedication moved me.”

Despite budget constraints due to ongoing government programs like the Parish Development Model, Namyalo said Anyimo’s persistence finally paid off.

“She kept on pressurizing me and I told her funds were tight. But she never gave up. That determination is why we are here today,” Namyalo added.

The crowd, largely composed of Bazzukulu ba Jajja Kaguta Museveni, cheered as ONC handed over business startup kits including salon equipment, carpentry tools, popcorn machines, sewing machines, and boda boda motorcycles—geared toward enabling self-employment and reducing youth dependence on handouts.

Harriet Anyimo reaffirmed her commitment to serve the people of Dakabela and thanked the ONC for the support.

“This is just the beginning,” she said. “When empowered, our people can work, eat, and live with dignity.”

The Soroti campaign marks another milestone in ONC’s ongoing efforts to spread the wealth creation gospel across Uganda, in alignment with President Museveni’s vision of socio-economic transformation.
