Parish chiefs and Parish Development Model (PDM) chairpersons in Ibanda District have received a significant boost in their operations following the delivery of 139 tablets and power banks.
The tools were handed over by Jovrine Kalisa Kyomukama, the PDM Deputy National Coordinator, at the district headquarters today.
The initiative aims to streamline data collection and enhance the implementation of the PDM program, addressing long-standing challenges faced by local leaders.
Speaking during the handover ceremony on Tuesday, Ms. Kalisa Kyomukama emphasised the importance of utilising the tools effectively.
"These tablets and power banks are not just devices; they are tools for transformation. I urge all chairpersons and parish chiefs to use them diligently by entering the necessary information accurately and timely," she said.
For years, parish chiefs and PDM chairpersons have expressed concerns about the lack of technological tools, which hindered their ability to efficiently execute their roles.
Ms. Robinah Tumwebaze, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) of Ibanda District, assured stakeholders of the quality and readiness of the tools.
"We have received all the tablets and power banks in good condition. With these tools in place, there is no excuse for inefficiency. We expect improved service delivery and timely reporting," she stated.
Happy Herbert Mayanja, the District Chairperson, expressed gratitude to the government for addressing the challenges faced by local leaders.
“This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering leaders at the grassroots level. These tools will undoubtedly enhance service delivery and ensure the success of the PDM program,” he remarked.
The distribution of the tools was done equitably, with Ibanda District receiving 95 tablets and power banks, while Ibanda Municipality received 44.
This development has been warmly welcomed by local leaders, who see it as a step forward in enhancing service delivery and achieving the goals of the PDM initiative.
