UMSC to engage Museveni on trivialization of religious matters

Uganda Muslim Council General Assembly members, supporting former Deputy Mufti Sheikh Abdallah Ssemambo, plan to engage President Museveni to prevent trivialization and politicization of religious matters.

Uganda Muslim Council General Assembly members, supporting former Deputy Mufti Sheikh Abdallah Ssemambo has emphasized that political interference in religious matters undermines the integrity and decisions, which represent the collective will of Uganda's Muslim population.

The General Assembly, recognized as the supreme decision-making body of the UMSC, resolved to retire Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje from his position in the public interest.

"This decision was deemed conclusive and irreversible, signalling a new chapter for the council's leadership," said Dr. Irumba .

The committee reassured members of the Muslim community that the UMSC belongs to all Muslims in Uganda and that their voices will be heard in subsequent General Assembly sessions.

The leadership transition seeks to address allegations of mismanagement, including embezzlement of funds, misuse of institutional property, and harassment of clerics and other members.

The council has called on all stakeholders to support the new leadership and contribute to the institution's development.
