Bobi Wine's re-arrest sparks riots in Jinja

The re-arrest of Kyadondo East legislator, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine after the army dropped charges against him has angered youths in Jinja.

Kyagulanyi was today slapped with fresh charges of treason at Gulu chief magistrates court. He was remanded till August 30.

Bobi Wine now joins fellow MPs: Paul Mwiru of Jinja East, Gerald Karuhanga of Ntungamo Municipality and the Arua Municipality MP elect Kassiano Wadri among others.

After news filtered through that Kyagulanyi had been re-arrested, youth in Jinja town started burning tyres in the middle of various roads.

The protests which started at the FDC stronghold along Kirinya road were only interrupted by a heavy down pour.

Earlier, there was heavy military and Police deployment in all corners of Jinja town.

Police has maintained motorised and foot patrols in and around Jinja town.
