Kwasa Kwasa offers Airtel subscribers the ability to borrow amounts starting at UGX 5,000 without the need for collateral—eliminating a key barrier faced by many Ugandans in accessing credit.

Accessible via the USSD code 1858*3# or the My Airtel App, the service provides loans with a 30-day repayment period and the option to roll over, allowing users to manage repayments in a flexible manner.

During the launch event, DTB Uganda’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Godfrey Sebaana, expressed his excitement about Kwasa Kwasa’s potential to advance financial inclusion in Uganda.

“Kwasa Kwasa brings us closer to our vision of empowering Ugandans to move forward confidently. By making small loans accessible, we’re helping individuals meet immediate needs quickly and affordably,” Sebaana stated.

Mr. Japhet Aritho, Managing Director of Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda, echoed Sebaana’s enthusiasm, emphasizing Airtel Money’s mission to broaden credit access for Ugandans, especially those who lack access to traditional banking.

“Our partnership with DTB and Credable allows us to expand financial services to customers who might otherwise be excluded. This is about building solutions that put financial access in the hands of millions,” he said.

Credable Uganda’s Country Lead, Mr. Simon Asiimwe, highlighted Kwasa Kwasa as more than just a loan product but a tool for financial empowerment.

“Kwasa Kwasa represents an important step in creating financial resilience for Ugandans. Our goal is to ensure every customer enjoys a fast, dependable, and positive experience,” Asiimwe added.

To qualify for Kwasa Kwasa, customers need only an active Airtel SIM card, registration with Airtel Money, and a valid National Identification Number (NIN).

With these simple eligibility requirements, DTB, Airtel Money, and Credable Group aim to empower more Ugandans to manage their finances effectively, building toward a more secure financial future.

This partnership not only brings essential financial services closer to underserved communities but also contributes to Uganda’s vision for inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.
