He asked the official distributors, Double Q, to ensure buyers have access to genuine GWM vehicle spare parts and high-quality service, which are essential for safety and vehicle longevity.

“The availability of genuine parts is critical for performance and safety,” he said.

Double Q Managing Director Bruce Lee said having been known for trucks and heavy vehicles, they are happy to now enter into the passenger vehicle market , noting this will create new employment opportunities for Ugandans.

“With addition of GWM brand to our  Double Q family, we are creating new employment opportunities, enhancing skills and promoting job creation” said  Lee.

He thanked the government of Uganda for the enabling environment that has made it easier for them to operate business.

Speaking at the same function, the company unveiled the GWM TANK 500 as its flagship car that the GWM Sales Manager, Steven Dumba described as powerful, all-terrain, off-road vehicle crafted to deliver a safe, smooth, and exhilarating driving experience.

“There’s been a gap in our auto industry. Customers have longed for better options, and we are here to provide a solution. Whether it’s a passionate driver who wants to add the TANK to their collection or a fleet owner seeking to reduce fuel and maintenance costs, we have something unique to offer,” Dumba said.

He said currently, Ugandans buy 40,000 annually and that only 3000 of these are brand new ones, with the rest accounting for over 90 being old cars.

Dumba advised Ugandans to opt for vehicle and asset financing schemes offered by banks to afford brand-new cars which he said are not very expensive as many believe.
