Joseph Kigozi the chief strategy officer of Next Media Services thanked the Irene Gleeson Foundation for working together to improve the lives of the Ugandan children.  Kigozi said that NBS is committed to investing in areas that impact people’s lives.

“How can we support organisations that are geared towards changing the situation in Uganda? Education being one of the most important ways to change society, we have a fairly bad reading culture in this country and I believe if we invest in this early, we shall have a brighter future,” he said.

Kiffasi John Paul the executive director Irene Gleeson Foundation said that they are grateful to NBS for the support given over the past three years.

According to John Paul, the idea to construct a library came up following the poor performance of Kitgum District in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations.

“This year we are excited to partner with NBS again to promote learning and sustainable development in Northern Uganda.”

The library which will cater for the children in Primary, secondary and tertiary institutions will be constructed and equipped with support from the community, private sector and the Irene Gleeson Foundation.

The Irene Gleeson Foundation charity walk was started in July 2013 after her death. Irene Gleeson was an Australian missionary who settled in Northern Uganda after the LRA war and started taking care of orphaned children. Through her work, the foundation was made.

Annually the Irene Gleeson walk is held to fundraise and contribute to different causes. The 5th annual walk will be held on 22 July 2018.

There will be a fundraising dinner on 19 June 2018 where the speaker of Parliament will be the chief guest.
