The Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah has appointed public relations guru, Sarah Kagingo as his new Principal Press Secretary.

The development was announced by the Director of Communications and Public Affairs Department in Parliament Chris Obore in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon.

In the same tweet, Obore also announced the appointment of NBS television’s Joseph Sabiti to lead the communication team for the Deputy Speaker Anita Among whereas Sadab Kitatta formerly at The Observer will be in charge of communication for the Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga.

“Congratulations and welcome on board to enhance parliament communications,” Obore said.

About Kagingo

The former Guild President at Makerere University but also the Managing Director of Soft Power Communications has served in different positions in the communications world.

Between 2011 and 2014, Kagingo served as Special Presidential Assistant for Communication and here she is credited for having digitized President Museveni’s communication and ensured real-time communication but also supported the planning and execution of the office of the Principal Private Secretary to the president.

Between 2015 and 2017, Kagingo was in charge of communications and public affairs at Operation Wealth Creation but earlier in 2016 she had also managed communications for Uganda’s bid to chair the African Union Commission.

She was therefore tasked with handling media relations on behalf of Uganda’s candidate for the African Union Commission.

The immediate past president of the Public Relations Association of Uganda(PRAU)  is also a board member at the Private Sector Foundation Uganda(PSFU) representing professional services and a member of the exco of the National Association of Broadcasters(NAB).
