Slain singer Moses Ssekibogo alias Mowzey Radio has been awarded best song writer for the year 2017.
Radio was recognised in the annual Hipipo awards yesterday at Kampala Serena Hotel of course in absentia. His award was picked by music partner Douglas Mayanja alias Weasel.
On picking the award, Weasel took to his social media platforms to dedicate the award to Radio and his children.
“This is for you my brother, the best song writer ever. We will always keep them for our young children.”
Mowzey Radio is known for penning hit songs including; Irene Ntale’s Sembeera, Lilian Mbabazi’s vitamin, B2C’s gutamiza and Rema Namakula’s tikula among others. However, while alive, he was never awarded for the same.
Radio was also a winner on the night along side B2C crew for their song gutamiza which emerged song of the year.
Meanwhile also on the winners list were Roden Y Kabako and Sheebah for their efforts in the song sitani tonkema, the crew walked away with the afro beat song of the year, while Rema won the award for best social message thanks to her Banyabo song.
Sheebah was the main winner of the night collecting other words including; Artiste of the year, female artiste of the year, album of the year and East African collabo of the year for her song Binkolela featuring The Ben.
