Eight vie to replace Kasamba in EALA

Days after the Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly declared one position vacant at the Assembly after the death of Uganda’s representative, Mathias Kasamba, more than eight people have shown interest in the seat.

Majority of those that have so far shown interest are mainly those that lost in the just concluded parliamentary elections or those that were recently dropped from cabinet by President Museveni on Tuesday this week.

During the State of the Nation Address last week, the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah informed legislators about the vacant position at the East African Legislative Assembly after Kasamba's death.

Some of those that have already shown interest include former MP for Kabula County James Kakooza, former district Woman legislator for Ngora Jacquiline Amongin and former district Woman legislator for Gomba Nakato Kyabangi.
