Rosa Malango, the UN Resident Coordinator in Uganda, has challenged Ugandans to love their country as a way of fostering harmony after the heated 2021 General Election.
Malango said this during the launch of a campaign dubbed: "This is home” at the UN Resident Representative’s home in Kololo.
President Museveni launched the campaign which is one of the last projects of Rosa Malango in the country.
The campaign is aimed at making Ugandans appreciate their country and be patriotic.
Malango, who is departing, said Uganda is now a second home to her family, she adopted a child in Uganda and will be returning often in an individual capacity.
"It has been an honour for me to serve in Uganda. The UN has now promoted me,"she said.
Malango also recognised Uganda's heroic act of being welcoming to refugees.
"We recognise Uganda for peacekeeping in the region. Uganda is also known for the Ebola fight response in West Africa. As we remember those who lost lives in the 1981-1986 Bush War, we also remember those who have lost lives fighting for human rights,"she said.

Malango took up the position in March 2016.
Prior to her appointment, she served as Head, Resident Coordinator’s Office, Guatemala.
She has more than 25 years of experience with the UN in the field and at headquarters including serving with UNICEF and several UN Special Envoys.
