The government has announced that Thursday, May 13 will be a public holiday to mark Eid-el-Fitr, a day observed by Muslims to end the month of Ramadhan.
"The Honourable Minister of Public Service informs the general public that Thursday 13th May 2021 is Eid-el- Fitr and will be observed as a public holiday throughout Uganda,” the statement from the Ministry of Public Service reads.
The director of Sharia at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), Sheikh Twaibu Ali Mpanso , informed the nation that since the crescent was not sighted on Tuesday evening, Eid Fitr will be celebrated on May 13 2021.
