NBS Television, a flagship brand of Next Media Services, has again been named among the top 100 brands in Uganda.

This was during the Brand Africa Awards 2024 held at the Fontis Residences Hotel, Kampala, bringing together market leaders from Uganda, and across the continent to celebrate Africa’s most admired and valuable brands.

During the ceremony, NBS Television was recognised as the most admired Ugandan media brand.

The event  recognized the brands that continue to shape the narrative and identity of Africa on the global stage.

Speaking during the ceremony,  Doreen Silver Katusiime, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities underscored  the significance of branding in promoting economic development and cultural pride across Africa.

“Uganda is proud to host the Brand Africa 100 Awards, an event that resonates with our vision of fostering local talent and driving sustainable economic growth. The recognition of these brands today goes beyond celebrating success; it is about inspiring future generations of African entrepreneurs to embrace excellence and continue building the continent’s prosperity,” Katusiime said.

Thebe Ikalafeng, the founder and chairman of Brand Africa, who presented the awards to the winners said the awards are meant to celebrate African brands who are doing something to uplift the continent.

"These awards are a testament to the resilience and creativity of African brands that have continuously adapted and thrived in the ever-changing global marketplace," said Ikalafeng.

"This year's honorees represent the spirit of African entrepreneurship, innovation, and excellence, proving that our continent is not just a consumer of global brands but also a creator of iconic brands that are shaping our future."

The Brand Africa 100 Awards have grown in prominence since their inception, with rankings based on a rigorous survey across more than 20 countries, covering consumer views on the most admired brands in Africa.

The rankings aim to encourage the growth of homegrown African brands while celebrating global brands that are making a positive impact on the continent.

This year’s ceremony didn’t  only celebrate the achievements of established brands but will also spotlight emerging brands that are driving change in sectors such as technology, fashion, and tourism.

The winners were selected based on a survey conducted by Geopoll, with strategic insights from Kantar and data analysis from Brand Leadership.
