Emyooga sacco leaders from various districts in the Kigezi Sub-region have begun a five-day training and exposure visit to the Ankole region to explore ways to enhance their performance.

Organized by the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC), the exchange visit aims to provide these saccos from Kigezi Sub-region with effective strategies for developing their saccos.

During their first training session at Omipa SACCO in Isingiro, sacco leaders were encouraged to embrace and champion President Museveni's vision of improving people's livelihoods.

Andrew Zimbe, the Microfinance Support Centre Zonal Manager for Mbarara, urged sacco leaders to prioritize implementing the president's vision of enhancing people's lives.

"All saccos should be inline with the president's vision and that is improving the livelihood of the people through this Emyooga program," Zimbe said.

He urged them to be visionaries, noting that they are fortunate to have received seed capital through the Emyooga program.

"Be vision bearers" he said.

Zimbe  appealed to the leaders to make sacrifices for the benefit of their saccos.

"For those mainstream Saccos like Omipa never got the opportunity to get the shs30 million, but for you, you've got an opportunity that President Museveni has given us the money. Dont let him down. The reality is that  you're going to do more sacrifices in terms of time, you will have to sacrifice more time for the sake of your Sacco."

Zimbe emphasized that for any sacco to grow, it must have a clear vision.

He encouraged emerging saccos to establish a vision, noting that it will provide guidance and direction for their growth.

"We are requesting all sacco leaders to build a vision, know where you are going, and you cannot know where you're going without a vision. Know where you're going, know the benchmark, know how you want your sacco to be like."

He appealed to sacco leaders to be passionate about their work, stating that a vision cannot be established without genuine enthusiasm, adding  that this passion will help them overcome many challenges.

"Love and vision go hand in hand. You should be in love with what you are doing, because there will be many challenges that will come along the way without love, there's nowhere you are going to go."

Addah Nasiima, the RDC of Isingiro District said that the Emyooga program is being smoothly implemented in her area and proudly stated that it has significantly transformed people's lives.

"In Isingiro, we also benefitted like other districts, and I want to say that we are doing well. However we register some few some challenges of recovery but I want to say that with the challenges, we are ahead of them. We have intervened and i want to say that some sacco leaders are doing some good recoveries," Nasiima said.

She implored sacco leaders to be honest and transparent stating that these are key in developing a Sacco.

She hailed Microfinance Support and and President Museveni for the program.

Emyooga sacco  leaders from Rubanda, Rukungiri, Kabale, Kisoro, Kinoni, Kamwenge, and Kanungu districts are on an exchange visit to the Ankole region to learn  and collaborate with established saccos in the area.

Their visit began with Omipa sacco, a prominent sacco, and Isingiro North Produce Dealers sacco, which specializes in milling.
