Bangladesh has welcomed 2025 after a year of significant upheaval.

Another country in South Asia, Pakistan sees in the new year with fireworks displays across the country.

In the capital Islamabad, several fireworks shows kicked off as soon as midnight struck. A common tradition in the country is to light bonfires on New Year's Eve.

For people in Lahore though, fireworks were banned earlier in the day, due to air pollution in the city.
