The Ministry of Health has partnered with Tooro kingdom to intensify health service delivery for the people in the region.

The ministry team led by the permanent secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine, said the partnership between the two entities is aimed at supporting the health sector to address disease prevention and health promotion in the region.

The ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kingdom of Tooro to enhance disease prevention and health promotion.

According to Dr Diana Atwine, this is part of the ministry’s move to engage cultural and religious institutions to promote good health practices.

"Our main focus is on preventive health care. We also signed an MOU to facilitate this key partnership. Cultural institutions appeal and reach out to many people. We are therefore utilising this opportunity to enhance awareness for better health lifestyles, to curb Ignorance. When people know 'what to do' or 'what not to do' in order to be disease free, they remain safer,"she added.

Officials said that the kingdom has set up a youth centre in the region aimed at empowering youth and this will go a long way in improving health outcomes among the youth and people of Tooro.

“I want to appreciate you for the gesture, for the partnership and the youth centre," Atwine said.

The team also lauded the kingdom for ensuring that the people of Tooro adhere to SOPs to prevent COVID-19
