Prince Kassim Nakibinge, the titular head of muslims in Uganda, has urged President Museveni not to rush to sign the age-limit bill into law.

Nakibinge made the request at Kibuli Mosque where he attended Juma prayers on Friday.

He said sufficient consultations had not been done by the MPs on the bill adding that generally, many Ugandans were opposed to the lifting of presidential age-limit.

"The MPs who passed the bill are lying to themselves, the president and Allah," he said.

On December 20, MPs passed the age-limit bill following an acrimonious debate in which some MPs were suspended by the speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

The bill removes the age-cap of 75 years for one to stand for the presidency and also extends the tenure of MPs and other local government leaders to seven years from five.
