Defending champions KCCA FC’s loss of points is fast becoming ever more routine as they dropped further to 13th after being beaten hands down by BUL FC in Njeru.
Prior to the game, the poor form had seen the 13-time champions fail to win in their previous four games in all competitions and this was again in evidence as Mike Mutebi’s team lost another game in a devastating fashion in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The hosts took the lead in the 34th minute when Richard Wandyaka pounced on them but BUL was not yet done when as early as five minutes into the second half, Robert Mukongotya doubled the lead.
It all started in BUL’s half when Charles Ssebutinde picked up a loose ball in his team’s half and played a quick one-two with Deogratius Ojok who later set up Mukongotya to fire a belter that KCCA FC goalkeeper, Charles Lukwago could not stop.
It was the second goal for the hosts who had prior to the game lost all the six league games against KCCA FC in the last three seasons.
However, it was more misery for Mutebi’s team in the 80th minute when old boy Musa Esenu took the lead beyond reach by scoring his first goal at the new side.
It was the third goal for BUL FC and this showed that with each passing game, KCCA FC’s woes under Mike Mutebi this season, seem like more than a collective fever dream.
In the past two weeks, the Kasasiro boys have fast slipped from a the euphoria of being only 90 minutes away from bagging at least two billion shillings for qualifying in the Caf Champion’s League group stages and one fighting to be at the top of the table to the embarrassment of defeat at BUL to leave them on just two points above the drop zone in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Speaking about the Tuesday game, KCCA FC coach, Mike Mutebi blamed his team for being inefficient.
“We created not so many chances but the little ones we created we didn’t take them away and in the end BUL who were more effective won the game,”Mutebi said shortly after the game at the Njeru Technical Centre on Tuesday evening.
