The Minister of State for Culture, Peace Mutuuzo, has warned artistes who compose songs that are intended to incite members of the public.
While officiating at the UPDF annual cultural gala in Jinja the minister showed concern over the increasing composition of songs and plays that she said are dangerous to the harmony of the country.
She revealed plans to ban such artists from performing on the Ugandan land.
Mutuuzo said there was a deliberate move by NRM government to develop the creative art industry hence they will not look on as artistes misuse it.
"Some of these artistes are misusing the freedom by composing songs that lead to hatred and disharmony," she said.
The remarks appear to be target Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the Kyadondo East MP whose song, "Tuliyambala Engule" has been interpreted in some circles to be politically divisive.
Every year, military students at the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka in Jinja hold a cultural fete where they showcase cultural values and norms.
Like the previous events, army men and women from different armies across the continent including Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Tanzania South Sudan and South Africa participated in an exhibition of their cultural norms and values including food, dress code and other forms of social life.
This was punctuated with different cultural performances to showcase their cultures in their home countries.
The Commandant of Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka Lt Gen. Andrew Gutti explained the relevance of this day saying it helps soldiers understand their culture since it is one of the symbols of unity.
