Kampala’s popular R&B-themed nightlife event Strictly Soul is set to return on June 2 for a special Martyrs’ Day Eve edition at Méstil Hotel & Residences, featuring DJs Eyo Mackus, Deejay Jo, DJ Bamos, and founder Akio Kawahito.

Over the past two years, Strictly Soul has grown into one of Kampala’s standout nightlife experiences, attracting audiences with a carefully curated selection of classic R&B, soul music, and nostalgic hits.

The event is known for blending old-school favourites with contemporary soul anthems from artistes such as Usher, Brandy, Beyoncé, SZA, and Summer Walker.

This year’s edition will place special focus on the DJs, with organisers promising a musical journey through classic slow jams, early 2000s R&B, and modern soul sounds designed to keep revelers on the dancefloor.

Speaking ahead of the event, Eyo Mackus said the emotional connection fans have with R&B music continues to define the Strictly Soul experience.

“R&B is one of the few genres that people genuinely feel connected to,” he said. “You can play a song from 15 years ago and the entire crowd will sing every lyric like it came out yesterday. That emotional connection is what makes Strictly Soul special.”

Media personality Sheila Salta will host the event, with organisers promising an immersive experience that blends live DJ sets, crowd interaction, and a reunion-style atmosphere for music lovers.

The event will also feature curated experiences in partnership with Johnnie Walker Blonde, continuing the brand’s collaboration with Strictly Soul.

“Blonde’s vibrant, easy-going character aligns naturally with the atmosphere that Strictly Soul has become known for,” said Christine Kyokunda, Brand Manager, Johnnie Walker East Africa. “Strictly Soul gives Kampala a reason to come together, let loose, and make memories that taste as good as the music sounds.”

Tickets are available via Quicket, with early bird tickets priced at Shs50,000 and ordinary tickets at Shs100,000.
