Jinja – Wednesday night was filled with nostalgia, music, and camaraderie as Rotary District 9214 kicked off its 100th District Conference with a spectacular "Vintage Night" dinner at the Civil Service College in Jinja.

The event, which saw Rotarians donning vintage-themed outfits such as suspenders, flat caps, and flamboyant wigs, was a glamorous affair that combined fine dining, dancing, and, most importantly, soulful live performances.

The evening's highlight was an unexpected ensemble of esteemed professionals-turned-entertainers who took to the stage and delivered a memorable performance of classic oldies.

Among the star performers were Court of Appeal Judge Justice Oscar Kihika, former ICT Minister Dr. Ham Mulira Mukasa (a proud member of the Rotary Club of Muyenga), and Makerere University lecturer Dr. Andrew Kasirye.

The setlist was a delightful mix of global classics and local favourites, including Someone Loves You Honey, Ndaya, What a Wonderful World, Let’s Get It On / We Found Love, Bamuleete, Nairobi Twist, My Boy Lollipop, Sina Makosa, and the iconic Kasango.

Each song touched the hearts of the audience, evoking fond memories and filling the air with joy, prompting many of the senior Rotarians to hit the dance floor.

Vintage Night was more than just an evening of music; it served as a celebration of the Rotary spirit — camaraderie, talent, and the universal language of music that bridges generational gaps.

The night perfectly set the tone for the 100th District Conference, reminding everyone that, regardless of titles and positions, Rotarians truly know how to enjoy life.

The 100th District Conference will continue until Sunday, with more events to follow in what is expected to be a landmark celebration for the Rotary District.
