Kyabazinga backs Acidic Vokoz amid driticism from Busoga tourism minister

The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Nadiope, has expressed support for Busoga artiste Kakaire Mutwahilu, popularly known as Acidic Vokoz, amid earlier criticism from his own kingdom's tourism minister.

Ms Hellen Namutamba had previously criticised Acidic Vokoz’s upcoming concert, set to take place at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala on Friday, August 30, arguing that he was not worthy of support from the Basoga community.

She even urged the Basoga not to attend the concert.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the Kyabazinga posted a promotional poster for Acidic Vokoz’s "Ndi Musoga" concert on his X account (formerly Twitter) at around 1am on Wednesday night.

This endorsement from the Kyabazinga has raised questions among many about what might have prompted Ms Namutamba to oppose Kakaire's concert.

Ms Namutamba has previously been at the forefront of promoting talent from Busoga, as seen during the recent Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge in Buyende District, where numerous artistes were invited to perform for the attendees.

When contacted for a comment, Ms Namutamba declined to speak on the matter, saying she could not comment at the moment, before switching off her phone.

Similarly, the Busoga Premier, Dr Joseph Muvawala, has remained silent, as efforts by our reporter Teven Kibumba to reach him have been unsuccessful.

It remains unclear whether Ms. Namutamba will align with the growing support from the Basoga, including the Kyabazinga’s endorsement, for Acidic Vokoz’s concert.

All eyes are on this Friday's "Ndi Musoga" concert to see if Acidic Vokoz will defy the criticism and have a successful event.
