Police in Rubanda District have arrested three suspects over an alleged theft from a motor vehicle at Karukara Market in Hamurwa Town Council along the Kabale–Kisoro Highway.
The incident is reported to have occurred shortly after midnight on 21 May 2026.
The suspects have been identified as Ivan Arigye of Rugarama, Kakore; Dancan Niwaha of Kamuterere, Kakore; and Justus Ainamani of Muyorere, Kitawulira.
According to Rubanda District Police spokesperson John Bosco Tumwebaze, police received a report that unidentified thugs had intercepted and robbed occupants of a truck at Karukara Market. A team from Hamurwa Police Station was immediately dispatched, but the suspects had already fled the scene.
“Shortly after, officers at Hakakondogoro Trading Centre near Karukara intercepted the group transporting a suspected stolen calf on a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UEV 958H. The suspects fled, abandoning both the motorcycle and the calf, which were taken to Hamurwa Police Station pending further investigations,” Tumwebaze said.
He added that acting on intelligence, police later arrested the three suspects after they were identified by the victim.
Tumwebaze further noted that the case is still under investigation ahead of prosecution.
