Police in Luuka District are investigating the sudden death of a 50-year-old married man who collapsed during an intimate encounter in a bush, with preliminary findings suggesting no immediate foul play.

The deceased, identified as Simon Kalamu, was a resident of Namulanda B Village in Namulanda Parish, Bukooma Sub-county.

According to Police, the incident occurred on the night of May 18, 2026, at around 9pm when Kalamu allegedly went to a nearby bush with a 40-year-old woman from the same area, where the two later engaged in an intimate encounter.

It is reported that Kalamu collapsed shortly after the encounter, during a subsequent round. The woman raised an alarm, attracting nearby residents who later notified local authorities.

Preliminary police findings indicate no immediate signs of foul play, though investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.

The body was taken for a postmortem examination to guide the inquiry.

Busoga North Police spokesperson Samson Lubega confirmed the incident, urging members of the public to remain calm as investigations continue.

He also encouraged residents to pay attention to their health and seek medical guidance when engaging in strenuous physical activity, noting that underlying health conditions can sometimes contribute to sudden medical emergencies.

Medical experts say sudden death during sexual activity is rare and is often linked to abrupt increases in heart rate and blood pressure, particularly among individuals with pre-existing health conditions.

Police have said a full report will be released once investigations are concluded.
