Police in Kampala Metropolitan South have foiled a planned robbery in Wandegeya and arrested five suspects linked to a series of aggravated robberies within the Kampala Metropolitan area.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, on May 15, 2026, at around 08:00am, police received intelligence regarding a group of suspected robbers targeting a victim at a mobile money service point.
It is alleged that the victim was expected to collect a bag containing money from Kalerwe and later deposit it with a bank agent within the Wandegeya area.
The suspects reportedly planned to attack the victim during the transaction.
Among those arrested is a key suspect, Ivan Gizamba, believed to be connected to several aggravated robberies across the Kampala Metropolitan area, including incidents at Kitezi Hardware Shop in Wakiso District, Gwanda Mall, and Centenary Bank in Kampala District.
Rogers Muyingo, Juma Ashford, Musa Masiga, and James Wanyama have also been arrested.
“Acting on the intelligence, police mounted an operation that led to the arrest of five suspects and the impounding of two motorcycles, registration numbers UGG 664A and UMA 567JW,” SP Kawala said.
Investigations are ongoing, and police say efforts to apprehend other suspects linked to the crimes are still underway.
