Police in Kira Division are investigating a suspected murder following the discovery of a decomposed body believed to be that of a 52-year-old woman who had been reported missing for several months in Wakiso District.
The deceased has been identified as Oliver Naziwa, a resident of Kito ‘A’, Kirinya in Kira Municipality.
According to police, the case was first reported on April 28, 2026, after relatives raised concerns over her disappearance since October 2025.
A search conducted on May 4 led officers to the suspects’ residence, where the body was found in a locked room alongside clothing believed to belong to the deceased.
Two suspects, including a relative of the deceased, have been arrested to assist with investigations.
Preliminary findings indicate the suspects may have been operating a cult-like group that allegedly discouraged members from seeking medical treatment and observing proper burial practices.
Police say the scene was processed, statements recorded, and the body conveyed to City Mortuary for postmortem examination.
“The body was discovered in a locked room during a search at the suspects’ residence. Two suspects have been arrested to assist with investigations as we examine circumstances surrounding the death,” said Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson of the Metropolitan police.
He warned the public against involvement in illegal groups, saying such practices pose serious risks to life and will be dealt with firmly.
