Local leaders confirmed the suspects are residents of Nyakishenyi Village. The LC I Chairperson, Ephraim Bakesigaki, said police contacted him to verify their identities.

“When I reached the scene, I was told that a body was indeed buried in Nandago’s compound,” Bakesigaki said.

The Kamwenge Police Station Officer In-Charge of Criminal Investigations (OC-CID), Steven Lwembawo, said police recovered several items linked to suspected witchcraft during a search at the suspects’ house.

“We shall first seek a court order before exhuming the body for a postmortem examination,” Lwembawo explained.

“People should always seek help from authorities whenever they have misunderstandings, instead of resorting to crime,” Kwizera said.

Police said investigations are still ongoing.
