Unidentified gunmen have shot and injured a businessman, Twaha Obwini, in Mayuge Town Council, Mayuge District.
The attack, which occurred at around 10:30 pm.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants are suspected to have tracked Obwini from his workplace on Nankoma Road, also known as Black Road.
As he neared his residence in Budhebela Zone, the attackers struck, firing two rounds into his thighs before fleeing the scene.
Sources allege that the gunmen made off with an undisclosed amount of money. It remains unclear whether this was a targeted attack or a robbery gone wrong.
Residents who responded to the gunshots found Obwini bleeding and rushed him to Mayuge health centre IV for treatment then later to yet to identified hospital in Jinja.
Local authorities have yet to issue an official statement.
