Six Remanded Over Stealing Shs620M From Centenary Bank Customer

Six men have been charged and  remanded to Luzira over robbery of shs620 million from Centenary Bank customer at Nkrumah Road branch.

Sharif Mulindwa , Khalid Akid alias Bombe, Muhamed Kayiira , Tamim Kawaganya, Ivan Ongom, Ismael Kasozi alias Maso, and Ivan Gizamba  were on Monday arraigned before Buganda Road Grade one Magistrate Winnie Nankya Jatiko and one count of aggravated robbery contrary to section 266 and 267(2) of the Penal Code Act read against them.

Prosecution, led by State Attorney Grace Amyalleges that on March, 26, 2026 , the group stole a bag from Gisma Zulaika Hussein which contained shs620 million while at Centenary Bank Nkrumah Road branch using pangas.

The incident happened as Gisma had got the money from a forex bureau and was entering Centenary Bank.

The group was however not allowed to take plea as the offence is only triable by the High Court.

The state prosecutor told court investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

The accused have been remanded until June, 15.
