Ng’ambi currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of MTN Côte d’Ivoire. In her new role, she will oversee MTN’s people and culture function across all markets under the company’s Ambition 2030 strategy.

Mupita said her appointment comes at a critical stage in the group's long-term transformation agenda.

“Mitwa will lead MTN’s people and culture agenda at a pivotal time in our Ambition 2030 journey,” he said.

As part of the leadership changes, Abbad Reda, currently Chief Executive Officer of MTN Zambia, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of MTN Côte d’Ivoire. He has previously held senior positions within MTN operations in Ghana, Liberia and Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Larry Annetts has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of MTN Zambia. He previously served in senior commercial roles across MTN markets, including South Africa and Nigeria, and also held a secondment as Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer at Irancell.

All appointments will take effect no later than Sept. 1, 2026.

MTN Group is the parent company of MTN Uganda, one of its key subsidiaries in East Africa.

Decisions taken at the group level, including executive appointments and strategic shifts, often influence operations in Uganda, where MTN remains one of the country's leading telecommunications and mobile money service providers.

The company said the changes are part of its internal succession planning process and draw on talent from within its existing leadership ranks as it implements the Ambition 2030 strategy aimed at expanding digital and financial inclusion across Africa.
