Service Cops Limited, a leading Pan-African technology innovation and outsourcing company dedicated to transforming businesses through digital financial solutions across Africa, has signed a strategic agreement with the Insurance Training College (ITC) to establish the ITC–Service Cops Innovation Hub.

The Innovation Hub marks a significant milestone in advancing innovation, digital transformation, and skills development within Uganda’s insurance and broader financial services sector.

The ITC–Service Cops Innovation Hub will provide a dynamic platform bringing together academia, industry players, and technology experts to collaboratively develop practical, market-ready technical expertise for the insurance industry.

The initiative aims to bridge the long-standing gap between traditional insurance operations and emerging digital technologies by combining enterprise technical skills with insurance industry knowledge. The program is expected to produce professionals equipped to drive the digitisation of the insurance industry in Uganda and across Africa.

The five-year program will feature an annual nine-month intensive training experience. Service Cops Limited will play a central role in funding the initiative and delivering cutting-edge enterprise technical training in areas such as software development and digital financial solutions. Meanwhile, ITC will provide a market-oriented insurance training program tailored for individuals with a technology background.

The Innovation Hub will focus on developing a new generation of innovation-driven professionals equipped with both technical and industry-relevant skills to create market-ready solutions for the insurance sector. It will also promote research, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among institutions and industry stakeholders, while offering hands-on training, internships, and industry placements for graduate students.

Speaking about the partnership, Service Cops Executive Chairman Joseph Ndiho said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to advancing insurance technology in Uganda and across Africa.

“This program reflects our commitment to advancing insurance technology in Uganda and Africa at large. As active participants in the digital transformation journey of the insurance industry in Uganda, we are convinced that the growth of insurance penetration in Africa and other emerging markets will largely be driven by digitisation. This will enable the delivery of relevant, consumer-centric, and affordable products through the right distribution channels,” Ndiho said.

Service Cops Managing Director Mathias Kamugasho described the Innovation Hub as a strategic investment in Africa’s insurance future.

“For Service Cops, the ITC–Service Cops Innovation Hub is a strategic investment in Africa’s insurance future. Through our partnership with the Insurance Training College, we are building a scalable model to develop skilled professionals and innovative insurance solutions that can be replicated across the continent. We are committed to positioning Africa not just as a consumer of financial technology, but as a global contributor driven by collaboration, strategic partnerships, and inclusive digital transformation,” Kamugasho said.

The Insurance Training College will provide the institutional framework for the initiative, including curriculum development, certification, and coordination with regulators such as the Insurance Regulatory Authority to ensure alignment with industry standards.

ITC Chief Executive Officer and Principal Saul Sseremba welcomed the partnership, saying it is founded on a shared vision for the future of insurance in the region.

“We welcome this partnership with Service Cops Limited, united by a shared vision for the future of insurance in the region. Keeping in mind the excellence and rigour that have defined us for decades, we are confident that this Innovation Hub, hosted at ITC, will address technological gaps and unlock the vast potential within our sector,” Sseremba said.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen Uganda’s innovation ecosystem, empower young professionals, and accelerate the adoption of digital solutions across the insurance and financial services landscape.
